4 min read · Updated October 2026

How much

  • £7,500 off an air source or ground source heat pump.
  • £9,000 for homes switching from oil heating.
  • £2,500 off an air-to-air heat pump (air conditioning that heats), available since 28 April 2026.

Who qualifies

  • Homes in England and Wales.
  • Replacing gas, oil, LPG or electric heating.
  • A valid EPC for the property.
  • Existing homes; most new builds do not qualify.

You do not apply yourself

The grant is paid to an MCS-certified installer, who applies on your behalf and takes the amount off your quote. If an installer is not MCS-certified for that technology, they cannot get you the grant. That is why every installer on HeatCool Hub shows whether their MCS certificate is verified.

Scotland and Northern Ireland

The scheme does not cover Scotland or Northern Ireland. In Scotland, Home Energy Scotland runs its own grant and interest-free loan.

Check before you sign

Rules and amounts change. Ask the installer to confirm in writing that your job is eligible and that the grant is already deducted on the quote. The scheme is run by Ofgem.
